Thank you, so very much, Morris! I knew I could count on you! Smiles! There was another one, same size and without the downy feathers but I think they were just the younger ones. I have about 5 or 6 very smaller birds playing with them and 2 black and white that are very pretty, about the same size. I sit out with the cat for about an hour, twice a day, and enjoying the birds but the scrub Jays and Blue Jays are almost the only ones I can iditentify! If they are pretty colors, I sometimes know what they are....

Beautiful close up photograph of a juvenile bird with residual downy feathers, and not yet with 'adult' plumage. I guess that this is a very young House Finch, or maybe a Grosbeak species. See if you can spot the parents in the area with large thick bills...that should tip you off to this juvenile bird's identity! F/L
